Okay. So I’m convinced that technology has turned against me. At least for the time being…

WHY, you ask???

As I mentioned on twitter a few days ago, the power cord for my laptop has stopped working. I can still get online, but it’s very awkward because I have to press in the cord and hold it in place the entire time so my laptop can charge long enough to actually stay on. (I’m writing this post at Karilyn’s house… remember her? ;) )

I did manage to get hooked up with a new one yesterday, and then conveniently left it at work…. very annoyed at myself for that!! I’ll be picking it up tomorrow afternoon, so that should take care of THAT little problem!

A power cord really isn’t that big of a deal.. but my cell phone is!! :|

It has been frozen for exactly 27 hours now.. well actually it finally ran out of battery power and shut off, but it’s still not working. I don’t have a landline set up either so I’m really going through withdrawal here! I won’t be able to get a new phone until at least after the weekend, it’s only been one day so far and already I am going a little crazy! I feel so … DISCONNECTED! Cut off from the world! Probably going to get cabin fever or something.. just kidding :P It won’t be so bad once I can go online from home again..

Anyway, here’s the full story about my phone.. I’m wondering if any of you have experienced this issue before…

I’ve been using this phone since mid-August, it’s just a basic Motorola flip phone.. nothing snazzy. It was brand new when I got it but seemed to be…lagging.. a bit. So I made sure to adjust the settings for my text messages to only save 50 inbox messages and auto-delete my sent messages, thinking it might help. Apparently the phone chose to disregard the settings entirely, as I recently realized my “outbox” showed over 1,980 messages!! I had no idea it was even capable of storing that much.. what for!? Trying to delete them just caused my phone to freeze for a few minutes with no results. The same thing happened when I went to double check that I had it set to “Auto clean-up mode” (which I did!)

I was getting frustrated, so yesterday I met up with a friend of mine who happens to work at a Telus kiosk to see if he could help me. When I went into my outbox to show him the problem, IT FROZE FOR GOOD.. :( Hasn’t worked since. I tried taking the battery out and it doesn’t help at all. At first, the Motorola logo was stuck on the screen..  but after my phone died and I tried to charge it, all I see now is a blank white screen! Useless!

Now it looks like I’ll have to resort to communicating with people through elaborate smoke signals for the next few days… LOL!

I’m not sure if it’s just a stroke of bad luck I’m having, or what!! Seems very strange that I have these problems at the same time.. I got my laptop (and power cord) only 11 months ago, and my phone was in use for just 3 short months! I mean, sure, I guess I text quite a bit.. okay a lot… but still!! It shouldn’t kick the bucket that early!

Either I’m doing something wrong here, or this is some sort of conspiracy… Next I will probably be having issues with my can opener! :P
